Meet your Therapist

Kristina C. Faulkner, LCMHC

Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor

Certified Personal Trainer & Nutrition Coach

I’m Kristina, a licensed health professional with experience in offering compassionate support to teens, young adults, and women dealing with disordered eating, body image issues, anxiety, depression, and low self-worth. My goal is to create a safe space for healing and exploration of feelings.. Additionally, I am a certified grief specialist, dedicated to offering grief coaching services, as well as addressing compassion fatigue and burnout specifically for helping professionals who often deal with these emotional challenges in their work..

Now, as a mother of three wonderful children—two of whom are currently in college and one who is navigating the challenges of high school—I feel compelled to share my thoughts on the pressing need to implement essential skill sets into our children's lives more than ever before. I won't pretend to fully grasp what it is like to be a teenager in today’s world, but as both a mom and a therapist, I have identified some significant differences that stand out the most to me.

For instance, the influence of video games on their development (I mean, I had an Atari back in the day, if that even counts). Additionally, they have access to an overwhelming, never-ending stream of information right at their fingertips, which can lead to overstimulation and can prevent their minds from ever truly shutting down. Social media platforms like Instagram and TikTok create an environment where constant comparisons are made between different body types and seemingly “perfect” lives, amplifying feelings of inadequacy.

Despite having cultivated some healthy coping skills in my past, I was still not immune to my own insecurities regarding my body—especially as I grew older and began to understand what society considered the “ideal body,” which I often felt did not apply to me. I genuinely cannot imagine how daunting it would have been to navigate through social media during my formative years and the accompanying whirlwind of feelings and thoughts that come with it. How utterly confusing that must be for today’s youth!

Teens today face challenges that are significantly more complex and demanding than those I experienced during my own adolescence. I have learned the importance of validating their unique experiences by not pretending to fully understand everything they go through or dismissing their feelings as merely part of growing up. Instead, I focus on truly listening to their stories, recognizing that each teenager has their own individual path to navigate in this beautifully intricate and dynamic stage of their lives.

In addition to working with teens and young adults, I also offer specialized grief coaching and supportive services for helping professionals who are suffering from compassion fatigue and burnout. Having personally experienced my own profound grief, I deeply understand the critical importance of having compassionate support during the most challenging and difficult times of your life. It is essential to have someone to lean on, share your feelings with, and guide you as you navigate through the complexities of loss and emotional exhaustion.  Finding the light in life again can be a challenging journey, and we all need that steady lighthouse that guides us back to a safe harbor. Therapy can serve as that invaluable resource for you, offering support and direction as you navigate through the waves of uncertainty.

Lastly, no matter what reason or circumstances have brought you to my page today, I want you to know that I fully acknowledge and understand that therapy is not a one-size-fits-all solution; rather, it is a deeply personal and individualized journey that each person embarks upon. Each client’s therapy experience is uniquely theirs, and they need the space and time to explore what it truly means for them to discover joy in their everyday life, embrace their ever-changing bodies, cultivate a genuine sense of purpose, and ultimately feel truly alive again. The encouraging news is that they don’t have to undertake this profound journey alone. That’s exactly what I’m here for—to provide unwavering support, compassionate guidance, and understanding along the way as they navigate their path toward healing and growth.

Make Life Worth Living

Investment & Insurance

Do You Take Insurance?

While I do not participate as an in-network provider with insurance companies, I want you to know that I am happy to provide you with a super-bill. This document can be submitted to your insurance company for potential reimbursement, helping to ease some of the financial burden associated with therapy sessions.

What is the out of pocket investment to participate in therapy?

I truly appreciate you taking the time and investing your resources into your personal growth and/or the well-being of your child, and I want you to know that I don’t take that commitment for granted. I take pride in being a solution-focused and action-oriented therapist, which means that our sessions will concentrate specifically on your individual goals and aspirations. By maintaining this focused approach, you will receive the support you need, empowering you to ultimately live your best possible life!

Why don’t you take insurance?

I do not participate with any insurance panels and am classified as an out-of-network provider, and here are some reasons why that decision is important to me. Insurance companies often dictate not only the time allotted for sessions—specifying the frequency and length of appointments—but also seek to influence the course of treatment as well as the specific treatment modalities that can be utilized.

Additionally, they typically require a mental health diagnosis in order to provide any reimbursement. I prefer to focus on my clients’ specific needs and circumstances, as I truly do not believe there is a “one size fits all” method when it comes to effective therapy. To support my clients, I am more than happy to provide a super-bill upon request, which can be submitted to your insurance companies for out-of-pocket reimbursement. Furthermore, I can provide additional information about this process during the intake procedure.

What is the investment?

  • Initial Intake Appointment (55 minutes, virtual): $150

  • 45-minute Individual talk session (virtual): $130 per session
